Publishing Process Statement
1. Introduction
This page explains how titles may move through Grangor’s publishing process, from submission to publication on the platform.
The purpose of this statement is to help authors and contributors understand the general process. It does not replace Grangor’s publishing terms, royalty policy, or any specific agreement made between Grangor and a contributor.
2. Submission and review
A title begins with submission to Grangor for review.
At this stage, Grangor may assess the work for quality, fit, originality, potential audience appeal, development potential, and suitability for the platform.
A submission may be accepted, rejected, held for later review, or returned with feedback or requests for further development.
3. Approval to move into development
If Grangor decides to move forward, the title may enter a development and publishing stage.
This does not always mean the title is already complete. Some titles may be developed further before publication, while others may be published in serialised or episodic form and continue to develop after going live.
4. Author led contributor selection
The author of the title chooses the editor and any other contributors they wish to involve in the project, subject to Grangor’s platform rules and administrative approval where required.
These contributors may include, but are not limited to:
Editors
Cover artists
Illustrators
Narrators
Other approved creative collaborators
Grangor may require contributor roles and royalty arrangements to be clearly recorded before publication.
5. Publishing deadline
Each accepted title may be given a publishing deadline.
This deadline helps Grangor manage scheduling, title preparation, contributor coordination, and platform planning.
If deadlines are missed, Grangor may review the title’s status, publication timing, or continued place in the publishing schedule.
6. Project management for larger titles
For larger, more complex, or collaborative projects, Grangor may assign a project manager.
A project manager may help coordinate deadlines, contributor communication, publishing requirements, production stages, and administrative oversight.
The use of a project manager does not remove the author’s creative role or responsibility for choosing their own contributors.
7. Preparation for publication
Before publication, a title may go through one or more of the following stages:
Editing
Formatting
Cover preparation
Metadata setup
Artwork or illustration integration
Contributor confirmation
Royalty allocation recording
Category and library placement
Platform readiness checks
Not every title will require every stage.
8. Final administrative approval
A title must be approved by Grangor admin before final publication on the platform.
This approval may include checks for:
Platform suitability
Content readiness
Required information and assets
Contributor status
Legal and policy compliance
Title presentation and metadata accuracy
Grangor may delay or refuse publication if a title does not meet the required standard or if important information is missing.
9. Publication and availability
Once approved, a title may be published and made available to readers on the platform.
Some titles may be published as complete works. Others may be published as serialised, episodic, or ongoing works.
A title does not need to be fully complete before publication if Grangor has approved it for release in that form.
10. When earnings begin
Where a title is eligible to generate royalties or other earnings, those earnings begin from the day the title is published and made available to readers on the platform.
For serialised or episodic titles, this means earnings may begin before the full title is finished.
11. Ongoing publication life
After publication, a title may continue to evolve through:
New chapter or episode releases
Corrections or updates
Additional contributor involvement
Metadata improvements
Promotional activity
Reader engagement and performance tracking
Grangor may continue to manage, feature, or adjust how a title appears on the platform in line with its publishing terms and platform policies.
12. Removal, suspension, or closure
Grangor may suspend, remove, delay, or stop publishing a title where necessary for legal, editorial, strategic, or operational reasons.
Where applicable, accrued earnings before removal will remain subject to the relevant royalty terms and policies.
13. No guarantee of publication or success
Moving through part of the publishing process does not guarantee final publication, promotion, reader uptake, or commercial success.
Every title is subject to editorial, operational, and commercial realities.
